A New Face for ISF in 2018

A New Face for ISF in 2018

January 5, 2018

Welcome to 2018!

The New Year commences with some good news for the ISF Community! In what can only be described as a much-anticipated year-end blessing, we received notice just prior to Christmas that the lower four floors of C Block had been granted registration by the Education Bureau (EDB). This means that we start 2018 with a new set of facilities that will benefit the entire school community. From our recommencement this week, the auditorium, squash courts, training room, music rehearsal rooms, drama rehearsal space, and the Wushu Center will be available for school activities. The ISF Admissions Office and Project & Facilities Management Office will also move into the new building in the coming week or so. As is the case with any new building, we do expect to encounter minor defects and blemishes that will be rectified as quickly as possible. I must also reassure the community that the clean-up around the C Block site and the Old Cable House will commence in earnest once the rooftop works have been completed.

It is indeed most satisfying to start the new year with a new public 'face' in Kong Sin Wan Road.

At the time of writing, the EDB registration of the swimming pool remains an outstanding item (we obtained the government license for the swimming pool some months ago). We anticipate obtaining registration to use the swimming pool around Chinese New Year in mid-February. The lightweight roof that will protect the rooftop sporting facilities in C Block are still under construction. We anticipate completion after the Easter holiday break.

The other half of this construction project – A Block – is nearing a state of completion that will allow us to obtain an Occupation Permit, which will be followed by more detailed fit-out work in the 40-odd classrooms, the Secondary School Cafeteria, and administrative levels in the upper half of the building. At this point, however, delays arising from the Chinese New Year and Spring Festival holiday break will slow down progress considerably. I will provide the community with a further update in the coming weeks.

I start 2018 with a deep sense of gratitude to those who have contributed so much to building such a wonderful learning environment for each and every ISF student. I wish all of us a year in which we experience achievement and contribution in equal measure!
