Head of Design (Ref: SEC/HOD/2018115_isf)

The school is seeking a qualified, experienced, and passionate Head of Design to work in the Secondary School for 2018/19 Academic Year. At MYP, students make use of the Design cycle and are given a grounding in materials design, systems and robotics design in addition to fashion design.

The ideal candidate will have experience in leading teams of Design teachers and be able to offer expertise one or more areas of materials design, robotics, product or systems design up to DP​ level. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a subject-team ethos that reflects the ISF missions, values, and goals, including taking responsibility for academic standards within subject team
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement all subject-team programs and policies pertaining to MYP/DP and contributing to students’ ISF school experience
  • Remain active and informed of current practices and innovations within subject and bring best practice to ISF colleagues, including using ICT for subject development.
  • Introduce and maintain systems to monitor the safety of machines, tools and instructional spaces and practices.
  • Lead and manage the ordering of curriculum reliant consumable and non consumable resources in line with Budget and student inflation.
  • Introduce and update new and old policies in line with both internal and external influences.
  • Welcome, inform, and mentor new subject team members
  • Coordinate subject teacher team effectively through working collaboratively to achieve team, MYP/DP, and divisional goals, including using data to raise student achievement and add value
  • Set and agenda for and chair regular subject team meetings in consultation with CLT, facilitate curriculum documentation and mapping (scope and sequence), including assessment monthly assessment calendar, by liaising with Grade-level Leaders and MYP/DP coordinators
  • Ensure that students’ work is regularly assessed and the assessments recorded according to MYP/DP principles and ISF practices
  • Liaise with other subject leaders to further inter-disciplinary teaching and learning and vertical coordination
  • Represent subject team in communication with ISF stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively to facilitate regular communication and effective relationships between subject team and others
  • Demonstrate openness in sharing information and keeping relevant people informed of subject-team matters, including the monitoring of regular and effective homework
  • Assist in maintaining student records, correspondence, and writing recommendations to support school transfers, as necessary

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Education, or
  • Bachelor Degree in any subjects with PGCE or PGDE
  • Experienced, excellent IB-MYP or DP teacher, or the equivalent
  • Maintain positive, enthusiastic outlook, and good sense of humor
  • Enthusiasm for subject and desire to communicate that to others
  • Ability to build, motivate, lead team

Employment Package:

  • Remuneration will commensurate with qualifications and experience. We will offer an attractive benefits package including medical, life, professional development & continuing  education and transportation to the right candidate.
  • With six years of relevant teaching experience, undergraduate / postgraduate training in education, and a master’s degree, you would earn around HK$57,610 per month (HK$10.8 = 1 UK Pound), as well as the contract completion gratuity.
  • As head of department, or head of year, you could earn an additional HK$1,500 – HK$14,000 a month as responsibility allowance.
  • We offer a two-year contract with a gratuity of 15% of base salary, paid on successful completion of the contract.

Technical Manager (Ref:CKSERC/MEM/20180201_isf)

The Independent Schools Foundation (“the Foundation”) is to establish a non-profit research and education center, The Charles Kao STEM Education Research Center based on the principles and practices of STEM as applied to age groups from infants through to young adults. This center will host education researchers and offer a range of internationally accredited and government-approved learning programs and courses with a strong STEM focus to students all over Hong Kong.

Stanford University’s Graduate School of Education is partnering with the Foundation to design and operate a Maker Space for innovative technology projects by children from kindergarten age to G.12 (S6).  FabLearn advocates and supports constructionist learning experiences for all children. Staff will be trained by Stanford and funded by the Foundation.

By establishing an environment that cultivates interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation, we seek to equip our users with the professional, creative, and technological skills they need to have a competitive advantage in the marketplace. We currently have an exciting opportunity available for an energetic, qualified, and experienced candidate to join our team.   

The Manager of the ISF Makerspace Cyberport is responsible for the overall operation of the makerspace and the development of programs and services which meet the needs of ISF Academy and community learners who have a wide-range of experience and expertise using the equipment in the lab and who cross the boundaries of multiple disciplines including education, arts, business, engineering, and computer science and the humanities. This position requires a strong commitment to maker learning coupled with a vision for using emerging technologies and evidence-based decision practices to develop, implement, and assess services. In the initial 1-1.5 years, one of the key components of the role is to work with the faculty of the ISF Academy (K-12) at the ISF Makerspace Cyberport campus.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the daily operation and use of the Makerspace.
  • Design and facilitate maker and STEAM programs for preschool, elementary, middle school and high school aged youth.
  • Ensure programs meet the needs and interests of students
  • Develop and strategize program curriculum to tie into our impact STEAM learning goals.
  • Monitor the quality of STEAM programs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ability to engage in reflective practice including setting goals to further ISF’s makerspace mission.
  • Collaborate with and support ISF teacher teams in the development of new Makerspace programming.
  • Manage the delivery of programs, including learning experiences for ISF programs and community relations.
  • Manage the training of all staff, volunteers, interns, and guests on the use of the Makerspace software, computers and manufacturing equipment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners and organizations.
  • Provide basic technical support for Makerspace hardware and software.
  • Serve as a liaison with internal staff and external program partners.
  • Acts as a key spokesperson of the organization in the community.
  • Maintain departmental responsibilities (meetings, email, phone, etc.).

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a STEM field
  • Teaching credentials preferred
  • Strong IT background preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Chinese(Putonghua/Mandarin)

Facilities Management Officer/Property Officer  (Ref: FMO/FMO/20170626_isf)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for FM Helpdesk Services;
  • Handle all incoming calls and emails and reply to users directly;
  • Provide support and solutions to users on FM work requests; 
  • Maintain all necessary record under SAP and Internal Systems;
  • Monitor the day-to-day FM operations;
  • Monitor the performance of cleaning, moving, security, landscape, pest control and other services contractors;
  • Assist to prepare service contracts;
  • Assist to handle pre-management of new buildings, including defects handling;

Finance Manager (System / Process) (Ref: FO/FM/20180404_isf)

Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for leading finance and accounting system projects and driving process efficiency within the school
  • Leading in system enhancement project, provide user requirements, review and comment on account mapping and related UAT result where necessary
  • Work closely with IT team, lead and manage solution design, process design, testing and implementation of identified processes and / or systems
  • Review accounting and business processes for the business units to identify areas of improvements and implementation of new systems
  • Engage proactively with various key business functions on finance operation and reporting matters
  • Support improvement, implantation and effectiveness of internal control
  • Assist in coordinating internal and external audit, and enhance internal control

  • University graduate with a degree preferably in Accounting / Finance or equivalent

  • Minimum 8 years of finance experience with at least 5 years of relevant experience in system enhancement / financial process re-engineering
  • Candidates from education sector is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively at all levels

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day IT support to staff members, students and parents of the Academy.
  • Provide support of hardware, classroom IT facilities, software, network, e-mail, office applications and educational software.
  • Assist in the organizing and running of any IT related activities.
  • Install and configure computer hardware, software systems, network equipment and printers.
  • Repair equipment and replace parts.
  • Set up new users' accounts and profiles and deal with password issues.

Requirements:

  • Higher Diploma or above in Information Technology or related discipline.

Responsibilities:

  • To coordinate the use of resources and facilities and provide assistance and advice in the practical needs of robotics and electronics projects.
  • To set up a new research space, maintain equipment (e.g. optical system, high speed camera, etc) and materials in safe and good order.
  • To assist in educational research projects in collaboration with Stanford University.
  • To carry out research protocols and contribute to the design, development and maintenance of specialist resources and/or long-term projects.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology/Counseling/Social Work or other relevant discipline; Master’s degree preferred
  • At least 6 years of relevant counseling experience in working with children and adolescents

  • Experience in leading student well-being programs/projects
  • Proficiency in English and Chinese with strong communication skills

The appointee will report to the Director of Learning Support and will work within a multi-disciplinary Learning Support Team (LST). The appointee is expected to provide school-based counseling support for students on individual as well as group basis, work closely with parents and teachers, implement student well-being programs, collaborate with different teaching and pastoral teams whenever appropriate to ensure students’ diverse needs are met holistically. In addition, Senior Guidance Counselor is responsible for supervising LST staff and coordinating responses to critical incidents.

  • Master’s degree in Education/Psychology or other relevant discipline
  • At least 3 years of educational experience in working with students; instructional and school leadership experience preferred
  • Experience in the field of social and emotional learning (or related experience)
  • Strong leadership, inter-personal and communication skills with high social and emotional competence demonstrated in workplace

The appointee will report to the Director of Learning Support and will work within a multi-disciplinary Learning Support Team (LST). The appointee is expected to coordinate an evidence-based Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum with aligned scope and sequence across whole school. The appointee is responsible for cultivating a safe, caring and positive learning environment for students and engaging effectively a variety of stakeholders. The appointee provides leadership and training for implementation of the SEL curriculum.
