Chinese (Mandarin) (Ref: SEC/CHI/20180102_isf)

The ISF Academy is seeking a qualified, experienced, and passionate teacher of Chinese (Putonghua) to work in our MYP Chinese language program. The ideal candidate will have the capacity to work as a part of a close-knit team of Chinese teachers at native language standard. All ISF students are bilingual and Chinese standards are generally very high. The school teaches in the traditional Chinese script.

Located on the western edge of Hong Kong Island, the ISF Academy is an independent, not-for-profit K-12 IB school offering a unique and widely recognized bilingual (Chinese-English) immersion education. New facilities for Design will enter service early in 2018. The School is seeking to increase its already considerable investment in this curricula area by establishing a technologically rich makerspace in collaboration with Stanford University.

Head of Design (Ref: SEC/HOD/2018115_isf)

The school is seeking a qualified, experienced, and passionate Head of Design to work in the Secondary School for 2018/19 Academic Year. The MYP and DP courses are well established and extremely well resourced. New facilities for Design will enter service early in 2018. The School is seeking to increase its already considerable investment in this curricula area by establishing a technologically rich makerspace in collaboration with Stanford University.

At MYP, students make use of the Design cycle and are given a grounding in materials design, systems and robotics design in addition to fashion design.

The ideal candidate will have experience in leading teams of Design teachers and be able to offer expertise one or more areas of materials design, robotics, product or systems design up to DP​ level. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a subject-team ethos that reflects the ISF missions, values, and goals, including taking responsibility for academic standards within subject team
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement all subject-team programs and policies pertaining to MYP/DP and contributing to students’ ISF school experience
  • Remain active and informed of current practices and innovations within subject and bring best practice to ISF colleagues, including using ICT for subject development.
  • Introduce and maintain systems to monitor the safety of machines, tools and instructional spaces and practices.
  • Lead and manage the ordering of curriculum reliant consumable and non consumable resources in line with Budget and student inflation.
  • Introduce and update new and old policies in line with both internal and external influences.
  • Welcome, inform, and mentor new subject team members
  • Coordinate subject teacher team effectively through working collaboratively to achieve team, MYP/DP, and divisional goals, including using data to raise student achievement and add value
  • Set and agenda for and chair regular subject team meetings in consultation with CLT, facilitate curriculum documentation and mapping (scope and sequence), including assessment monthly assessment calendar, by liaising with Grade-level Leaders and MYP/DP coordinators
  • Ensure that students’ work is regularly assessed and the assessments recorded according to MYP/DP principles and ISF practices
  • Liaise with other subject leaders to further inter-disciplinary teaching and learning and vertical coordination
  • Represent subject team in communication with ISF stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively to facilitate regular communication and effective relationships between subject team and others
  • Demonstrate openness in sharing information and keeping relevant people informed of subject-team matters, including the monitoring of regular and effective homework
  • Assist in maintaining student records, correspondence, and writing recommendations to support school transfers, as necessary

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Education, or
  • Bachelor Degree in any subjects with PGCE or PGDE
  • Experienced, excellent IB-MYP or DP teacher, or the equivalent
  • Maintain positive, enthusiastic outlook, and good sense of humor
  • Enthusiasm for subject and desire to communicate that to others
  • Ability to build, motivate, lead team

Employment Package:

  • Remuneration will commensurate with qualifications and experience. We will offer an attractive benefits package including medical, life, professional development & continuing  education and transportation to the right candidate.
  • With six years of relevant teaching experience, undergraduate / postgraduate training in education, and a master’s degree, you would earn around HK$57,610 per month (HK$10.8 = 1 UK Pound), as well as the contract completion gratuity.
  • As head of department, or head of year, you could earn an additional HK$1,500 – HK$14,000 a month as responsibility allowance.
  • We offer a two-year contract with a gratuity of 15% of base salary, paid on successful completion of the contract.

INTERN Art/ Chemistry/ Music-General/ Physics (Ref: SEC/INT/20180102_isf)

The ISF Academy is an independent, not-for-profit, K-12, IB World School located on the western side of Hong Kong Island. A leader in the field of bilingual education, The ISF Academy has a student enrolment of 2,000 and a faculty/staff complement of 400. It is a vibrant and growing learning community. The ISF Teaching Fellowship/Internship program has been in operation for five years. The program immerses appointees in the academic and co-curricular life of the school. Professional development is provided. A high percentage of former teaching interns have entered the teaching profession – many have been appointed to full-time positions as teachers at ISF and elsewhere.

In 2018, two or three positions are available for graduates from selected disciplines, including Chemistry, Physics, Music, and Visual Arts.

About us: The ISF Academy is an independent, not-for-profit, K-12 IB World School offering a unique Chinese-English curriculum. Set in a quiet, green corner of Hong Kong Island, the school has an enrolment of 2,000 across two campus.

Our Classics Program: The ISF Academy Comparative Classics course is a unique, challenging and highly rewarding study program. Founded on close collaboration between the Western and Chinese Classics teams, students are exposed to the languages and literature of two great ancient civilisations.

Latin has been offered at ISF for around five years, with students having undertaken assessments through the US NLB, the IGCSE, and the IB Diploma. Ancient Greek is in its second year.  We have a total of 105 Secondary School students studying Comparative Classics, Western Classics, Latin and/or Ancient Greek, with 24 Grade 5 students in our Western Classics Club and all of Grades 3 and 4 participating in Shuyuan Classics Storytelling, where they listen to tales of western myths and explore associated themes at an age-appropriate level. Ancient Greek will remain as an extracurricular opportunity for students in Grades 9 to 12, and sitting the American National Greek Examination at various levels.

The ISF Academy has led the establishment of ASEACT, the Association of South-East Asian Classics Teachers.

Administration and Support Staff

 

Educational Assistant (Temporary 2-month contract) (Ref: LST/EA/20180102_isf)

Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will be working under the Learning Support Team for this coming two-month from January to February 2018. The nature of the role will involve working with Primary school students in learning activities under the supervision of the class teacher to whom they are assigned. In addition, the supporting student learning will be varied and may involve:

  • Working with students with learning diversity or who require additional learning or behavioral support.
  • Assisting students to engage in group work and develop appropriate social communication skills.
  • Supervising students during recess and lunch time.

Requirements:

  • Languages of communication: can communicate basic Chinese Putonghua and English
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and basic ICT skills
  • Prior working experience: Preferred prior working experience as educational assistant in educational setting or any other experience equivalent
  • Willing to commit to a detailed background check and to receive training provided by the     Learning Support Team

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for FM Helpdesk Services;
  • Handle all incoming calls and emails and reply to users directly;
  • Provide support and solutions to users on FM work requests; 
  • Maintain all necessary record under SAP and Internal Systems;
  • Monitor the day-to-day FM operations;
  • Monitor the performance of cleaning, moving, security, landscape, pest control and other services contractors;
  • Assist to prepare service contracts;
  • Assist to handle pre-management of new buildings, including defects handling;
  • Organize and co-ordinate school events and activities;
  • Perform general clerical and administrative duties; and

Requirements:

  • Degree hold in Facility / Property / Housing / Estate Management / Business Administration or related disciplines plus at least three year’s relevant customer services experience;
  • Possess hands-on MS office applications including Excel, PowerPoint and Chinese Word Processing;
  • Possess good interpersonal and communication skills and able to work independently;
  • Pleasant, responsible and detail-oriented;
  • Green card and First Aid certificate is preferred;
  • Willing to perform duties in irregular hours is required;
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua /Mandarin.

IT Support Administrator (Ref: IT/ITSA/20171108_isf)

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day IT support to staff members, students and parents of the Academy.
  • Provide support of hardware, classroom IT facilities, software, network, e-mail, office applications and educational software.
  • Assist in the organizing and running of any IT related activities.
  • Install and configure computer hardware, software systems, network equipment and printers.
  • Repair equipment and replace parts.
  • Set up new users' accounts and profiles and deal with password issues.
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems; diagnose and resolve hardware or software faults.

Requirements:

  • Higher Diploma or above in Information Technology or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of OS X and Windows Operating System. Linux familiarity is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (both Windows and Mac environment).
  • Knowledge of administering users and computers via Active Directory.
  • Good team player, self-motivated, mature and able to work independently.
  • Good command of both spoken and written English, Cantonese & Putonghua).

Senior Human Resources Officer / Human Resources Officer (Recruitment) (Ref: HR/SHRO/20180111_isf)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide end-to-end recruitment services to faculty and non-faculty departments.
  • Work closely with department heads for their hiring needs and design the recruitment plan for each open position
  • Handle administrative duties including but not limited to manage the use of recruitment agencies, conduct pre-screening interviews, maintain employee data in the HRIS
  • Assist in reference and background checks for potential employees via a designated vendor
  • Review the position requirements, conduct market benchmark and prepare salary proposal
  • Facilitate on-boarding process and conduct new employee orientation
  • Facilitate the applications of teacher qualification and work visa for overseas new hires
  • Compile recruitment reports and headcount analysis
  • Perform other ad hoc projects as assigned by supervisor

Job Requirements:

  • Degree holder in HR or related discipline
  • At least 5 years’ experience in corporate recruitment from sizable firms
  • Good knowledge of labour ordinance and regulations
  • Ability to work independently and able to handle requests from department heads

Requirements:

  • Degree or above in any discipline of Building Surveying, Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related discipline;
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in technical aspect of Property Management Company, Maintenance Contractor or relevant job exposure, of which 2 years should be at supervisory level;
  • Experience working in sizable and complex organizations, experience in NGO or education sectors would be an advantage;
  • Holder of Certificate of Registration of Electrical Worker Grade A or above and Green Card;
  • Holder of Certificate of Registration of Electrical Worker Grade B is preferable;
  • Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua/Mandarin;
  • Knowledge and experienced user of modern SAP / ERP systems.
