Arts (Visual Art / Music / Dance / Drama)
The Visual Arts curriculum is designed with reference to the curriculum documents from Beijing, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the National Curriculum of England and the International Baccalaureate. The program is delivered in English and introduces students to Chinese and Western forms of self and group expression. It offers opportunities for children to work in two and three dimensions including manipulating materials and constructing work, drawing, painting, printing, textiles, collage and sculpture. Using their imagination, experiences, memory and first-hand observation, students respond to a cultural and artistic context from which they create their own artworks.
The Music curriculum is designed with reference to the curriculum documents issued by the Education Bureau of HKSAR Government and the International Baccalaureate. It is delivered in Chinese in Lower Primary and English in Upper Primary, and comprises singing, performing, sight-reading, listening, appreciation and composition.
The Dance curriculum, delivered in Chinese, is developed with reference to the curriculum documents from the Beijing Dance Academy’s Chinese Dance Graded Examination (BDA/CDGE). It focuses on developing students’ flexibility and coordination, rhythm and choreography, proper postures and self-esteem as well as their ability to appreciate and understand Chinese dance and Chinese culture.
The Drama program is developed as part of the students’ learning of Chinese and English. It aims to encourage commitment, teamwork and personal skills development through expression in different art forms.
