The Sixth Asia-Pacific Chinese-English Bilingual Festival Concludes Successfully

On Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14, the Academy successfully held the Sixth Asia-Pacific Chinese-English Bilingual Festival. A total of 20 schools from different places in the Asia-Pacific region, including Singapore, Beijing, Taipei, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Taichung, Kaohsiung and Hong Kong, have shown great support to the event. With more than 250 participating students, this year‘s Bilingual Festival was the largest in scale to date. In addition to the 54 students who represented the Academy in different events, over 60 Academy students served as volunteers in different capacities— student ambassadors, scorekeepers, timekeepers, debate chairpersons and masters of ceremony.

All participants strove for their best performance and demonstrated their bilingual prowess during the two-day event. The Academy performed remarkably well in the event, winning the Gold Award in Bilingual Poetry Recital and Bilingual Storytelling, some students were also awarded silver and bronze in these events.

Despite fierce competition in the Bilingual Debate event, the Academy‘s debate team managed to defeat those from UWC Changshu China and Taipei Kuei Shan School. The Academy went on to win the semi-final against Yew Chung International School of Hong Kong and was named second runner-up.

Not only did the festival showcase the remarkable achievements of the Academy‘s bilingual teaching, it also provided a platform where students from afar could demonstrate their bilingual skills. It was indeed a distinguished bilingual event which fostered friendly exchanges among participating schools. Although the event has concluded, the Academy hopes that the community will continue to show their support to the Bilingual Festival.
