Arts - 2018/19

This is a dramatic performance, staged over three nights in the H.J. Zhang Black Box Theatre on November 20 – 22, 2018, and with a cast of just nine students, challenged the audience to consider why life might be worth living. An ISF adaptation of Duncan Macmillan’s play, Every Brilliant Thing, this year’s Senior School Production, was executed with great confidence by its young cast, setting an unrelenting pace, as the main protagonist, wrestling with his mother’s depression, sought to list ‘every brilliant thing’ in life.

According to the directors of My Fair Lady Mr. Bob Scheer and Ms. Vanessa Noble, this is one of the classic tales of the life-changing properties of education. Throughout the process of bringing this play to the stage, student leadership has been the core of this art performance. Dancing captains assisting choreographing the musical numbers, academy students playing the score and stagehands managing the backstage, it has been a hands-on, equal involvement production and an amazing visual spectacle for students and staff!
