ISF Drama Workshops with LOVE 21 Down Syndrome Members
Teachers in Secondary, Ms. Sarah McNeal (English) and Mr. Bob Scheer (Drama) worked together with passionate students from Grade 7 and 9 to create a “mini pantomime” online, aiming to bring the fun of drama to some of the members of LOVE 21. LOVE 21 is a charity dedicated to empowering the Down syndrome and autistic community in Hong Kong through sports and holistic support programs. Thanks to the valuable guidance and time from the Learning Support Team on how to work with people under such conditions, the teachers and students gained more insights through three internal meetings before conducting ten workshops online with LOVE 21. This project is also a collaboration with Hong Kong Players and Renaissance College Hong Kong staff and students to demonstrate the impact of teamwork.
Our students meticulously planned the drama lessons with the teachers and led weekly sections. Despite being a little stressful troubleshooting in Zoom, they found lots of fun working with the charity and telling the story of Jack and the Beanstalk in a physically dramatic way. We look forward to restarting this service project for interested Secondary students and staff in the current academic year.
