J. Zhang Black Box Theater was completely transformed into space that took audience members on a journey through life as they participated in a powerful piece of immersive theater. Under the guidance of Ms. Keren Chaukria, members of <em>Shokra<\/em> \u2014 the Grade 11 Diploma Programme Theater students\u2019 performance ensemble \u2014 ushered theatergoers through a whirlwind experience of growing up, asking them to question themselves and reflect on their own truths as long-forgotten memories are brought to light and explored.<\/p>\n<p>An entirely original piece devised by <em>Shokra<\/em>, this interactive and immersive performance drew heavily on concepts developed through their studies in improvisation, storytelling, and movement and breath. Illustratively reflecting the everchanging nature of our lives, the set itself was entirely movable and consisted of several mirrored flats that were shifted and manipulated by a crew of ISF staff. Further inspiration from Gecko Theatre, Robert Le Page, and Punchdrunk solidified <em>Shokra\u2019s<\/em> vision for this piece of immersive theater, which is notoriously difficult to execute and master.
