Dunhuang \u2500\u2500 a remote, mysterious and fascinating place. Dunhuang art is the art of Buddhist enlightenment. The Dunhuang Grottoes were constructed since 1,657 years ago.\u00a0 As there are nearly a thousand caves preserved, the grottoes are also known as \u201cThousand Buddha Caves\u201d. The Dunhuang Grottoes are rare artistic sites in the world and were listed as UNESCO world cultural heritage in 1987, the first listed project in China. The speaker will explain the art of Dunhuang Grottoes and walk with the audience into this museum of the Silk Road, a thousand-year-old cultural treasure with endless light of wisdom and compassion.<\/p>\n

About the Speaker:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Irene Lok, Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Hong Kong. Member of China Dunhuang Turpan Society. Dr. Lok teaches Dunhuang Buddhist art in CUHK, also serves as an Art Consultant at Jao Tsung-I Academy in HKU etc. The author of the award-winning book Contemplating the Mind at Ease: Origin of the Guanyin Festivals and Worshipping in Hong Kong<\/em> and the latest book Serendipity at Dunhuang.<\/em>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/6″][vc_column_text][\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_separator][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n
