Cantonese Opera and Xiqu Culture<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

CRC will host the captioned seminar to explore the elements of Xiqu and delve into the unique characteristics of Cantonese opera, a regional form of Xiqu. We will also discuss how the movements of the stage actors help convey scene information.<\/span><\/p>\n

To guide us through this journey, we have invited Ms. Man Wah to give a presentation and demonstration. Born into a family with rich history in Xiqu, she possesses a natural talent for writing, creating and acting. Her performances in classic Cantonese operas, such as \u201cThe Floral Princess\u201d (<\/span>\u5e1d\u5973\u82b1<\/span>) and \u201cThe Purple Hairpin\u201d (<\/span>\u7d2b\u91f5\u8a18<\/span>), have earned her rave reviews. She is a true example of a \u201cCantonese opera singer-songwriter\u201d nurtured in Hong Kong.<\/span><\/p>\n
