Obviously, this fantasy of escaping ISF never actualised because I am still very much here. My mom was firm in her stance that I develop my chinese identity and fluency in the language, and so I continued to suffer for the rest of my formative years.<\/p>\n<p>Believe me when I say that I prayed for the day that my Mom would be advised to send me else where.<\/p>\n<p>12 years on, I am still here in ISF. Graduating much to my own surprise, and I\u2019m sure to many others as well. Though I do not consider myself an academic weapon by any means, my time in ISF has transformed me into an insightful, self-aware, and curious person. It would be selfish to say that this happened by my own volition. All this has been possible thanks to the incredible educators that have affirmed and deepened my learning experiences, the friends and peers that have inspired me to believe in myself, and the bounty\u00a0 of academic resources provided to us by the school.<\/p>\n<p>ISF has allowed me to discover my academic preoccupations and has given me everything I need for a career that dissolves the intricately fabricated social constructs that divide us.<\/p>\n<p>I sign off with a quote from The Sound Of Music.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cSo long, farewell, auf
