“We are inordinately proud of this graduating class for their remarkable resilience and impressive recovery from the disruptions of the pandemic, which remained in force until the final months of their DP studies. At the same time, all IBDP standards, expectations, and grade boundaries have been reset to more stringent pre-pandemic standards. We offer our hearty congratulations to our remarkable graduates, dedicated faculty and supportive families for collectively forging a fruitful and ultimately successful DP journey after enduring the all-pervasive pandemic headwinds of their crucial formative years of schooling,” commended Dr. Malcolm Pritchard, Head of School.
Since graduating its first IBDP cohort in 2012, the size of the ISF graduating class has grown significantly. As a non-selective school, with all students undertaking all examinable elements of the Diploma, our graduates have achieved a set of exceptional results, surpassing the pre-COVID global benchmarks set in 2019. Through incredible commitment and dedication, the Class of 2023 has achieved academic excellence in the face of unprecedented challenges. The high proportion of 72% students earning the prestigious Bilingual Diploma once again exemplifies the academic and cultural literacy of our students in both English and Chinese.
The Class of 2023 has received more than 465 offers from 123 highly selective tertiary institutions worldwide. This year’s matriculation list includes the Ivy League schools of Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania. Also represented in the US are Georgia Institute of Technology, John Hopkins University, New York University, Northwestern University, the University of California, the University of Chicago, the University of Michigan, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Southern California, the University of Notre Dame and Boston University.
Among the prestigious offers in the UK are the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, Imperial College London, University College London, the London School of Economics and Political Science, the University of Bristol, the University of Warwick and the University of Edinburgh. There are also successful applicants to the University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia in Canada; the University of Sydney and the University of Queensland in Australia; the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and University College Dublin in Ireland; as well as the top three local universities: the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Accompanying these offers is a total of HK$25.7 million in scholarships.
The members of the Class of 2023 will pursue an impressively expansive range of majors from medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, law, STEM, engineering, computer science, environmental science, psychology, economics, politics, international business to architecture, English, fashion, film, classics, philosophy, and fine arts. Such diversity showcases ISF students’ extraordinary aspirations in making a difference where they can in the world.
“We take great pride in the fact that the majority of our graduates have been a part of the ISF community since Foundation Year, their learning shaped and guided by our distinctive bilingual curriculum and essential human values of The Eight Virtues + One. The nurturing ISF environment and rich learning experiences have contributed to our senior students achieving a personal best this year. We are confident in a bright future that lies ahead for these talented lifelong learners,” concluded Dr. Pritchard.
We invite you to join us in cheers and applause on this celebration page attributed to the wonderful graduates of the Class of 2023.
