Learning Support Teacher – Secondary School
Li Ren Center (立人中心) – Wellbeing and Inclusion. Li Ren works holistically to support students with their learning and social emotional development. Offering a wide range of provision and services, Li Ren is a through school department working with students, parents and the ISF community.
The successful candidate is expected to provide guidance and support to identified students in areas of inclusion and learning diversity in achieving the best possible learning outcomes. Learning diversity refers to different learning needs of students that require holistic support and enrichment so that every student can thrive and achieve excellence.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Leadership Team to ensure students in Secondary School with special learning needs receive high quality of inclusive education aligning with the IB standards and practices;
- Coordinate and streamline identification, referral process, conduct informal assessment and communicate with student, parents and teachers to develop strategies to enhance student’s learning;
- Write Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) for students with learning diversity and convene IEP or case conference to discuss and update the holistic support plan;
- Deliver direct interventions and meet with students on individual and small group basis; Collaborate with teachers to implement co-teaching, push-in, and/or other learning strategies in class;
- Regularly evaluate access to learning, students’ learning goals and to monitor the progress of the students;
- Develop students’ independent learning skills and self-esteems;
- Work in close collaboration with parents through conducting regular meetings to report on students’ progress and to share information and support strategies;
- Ensure appropriate records are kept on individual students receiving support; and
- Plan and engage in professional learning activities that support school and systematic priorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Education or related field; Post-graduate training in special education field;
- Minimum 4 years of teaching experience preferably within Secondary School; relevant knowledge and experience teaching students with learning diversity is highly preferred;
- Sufficient knowledge, expertise and awareness of students’ social, emotional and learning needs;
- Patient and passionate about educating children;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with good command of Chinese; and
- Experience in IB MYP or DP is advantageous.
