Primary Deputy Principal (English)

The Deputy Principal (English) plays a crucial role in supporting the ongoing development, ethos, and academic culture of the Primary School. The main objective of this role is to build a learning community that values a love of learning and encourages students to strive for their personal best, to support the mission and vision of our unique bilingual context. The role is of pivotal importance in the development and delivery of the ISF Primary School curriculum in alignment with the Eight Virtues + One.

The Deputy Principal (English) is an integral part of the Primary Leadership Team (PLT) who works closely with the assistant principals, primary curriculum coordinators, subject heads, and grade-level leaders. Additionally, the Deputy Principal assists the Primary Principal in enhancing teacher performance and improving the quality of teaching and learning. The Deputy Principal assumes administrative responsibility for the Primary School in the absence of the Primary Principal.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop a teaching and learning community to reflect the vision and mission of the school
  • Support day-to-day operations from Foundation Year to Grade 5
  • Develop the capacity of staff to fulfil the ISF mission and vision
  • Provide pedagogical leadership, mentor new staff and coach existing staff
  • Organize, develop, and deliver professional development opportunities for primary faculty
  • Implement the ISF Strategic Plan and the Primary School Action Plan in conjunction with other members of the Primary Leadership Team
  • Develop, deploy, and recruit of teaching faculty and other staff (English)

Requirements

  • Significant instruction experience in the primary phase of education (Foundation Year to Grade 5)
  • Minimum five years of leadership experience as an assistant principal or equivalent
  • Master’s degree in leadership or in education
  • A clear commitment to child protection, service learning, and environmental stewardship
  • Knowledge and experience in literacy practices, including Reading and Writing Workshop, NGSS, and teaching mathematics through a conceptual approach
  • Experience working with leadership teams, leading teams, and coaching teachers
  • Experience working with diverse teaching populations, in bilingual working environments (desirable)
