Program Manager – Chinese Research Center (2 year-contract)

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and operate the Chinese Research Center (CRC) under the supervision of the Director of CRC with a focus on program management and collection maintenance;
  • Plan and design the program and proactively monitor its progress, resolve issues and initiate appropriate corrective action;
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop the scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for new initiatives;
  • Develop program assessment protocols for evaluation and improvement;
  • Ensure effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the program and manage risks to the program’s successful outcome;
  • Implement and manage changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved;
  • Organize and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of school; and
  • Assist in ad-hoc projects and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in cultural event management is essential, preferably with skills such as MS Project and other productivity tools;
  • Experience in library collection and/or database management is highly desirable;
  • Ability to work with third-party vendors in the field of Chinese Culture and Performing Art, preferably with personal practical experience in Chinese Culture and Performing Art;
  • Able to demonstrate strong passion in Chinese Language and Culture with a track record of achievements to indicate a high degree of Chinese Cultural competence;
  • Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedure;
  • Sufficient seniority and credibility to work with different departments on projects in relation to the program;
  • Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking skills;
  • Possess a mature personality, a growth and learning mindset;
  • Bilingual competence is essential (Putonghua and English). Knowledge of Cantonese is considered a bonus; and
  • Proficient in PC applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chinese word processing.
