Secondary Technician - Music
As an outstanding school, ISF delivers world-class academic music programs alongside a busy and exciting performing arts schedule with rich co-curricular music ensembles. Students also have access to individual instrumental lessons as part of our Music Academy.
The Music Technician plays a pivotal role in maintaining this standard of excellence and aspiration for our students to develop their musical gifts both in and out of the classroom.
The music technician provides technical and administrative support to the Music Department to ensure the smooth preparation and delivery of lessons and performance-related activities. The role supports the maintenance of music classrooms, equipment and materials, enabling a safe, organized and effective learning environment for students and staff.
Responsibilities
- Prepare musical materials and equipment before lessons and clear up after classes;
- Assist teachers and students in the safe use of musical equipment and facilities;
- Maintain inventory records of instruments, music materials, tools and equipment;
- Organize storage areas and ensure materials are properly labelled and accessible;
- Upkeep and maintenance of classroom instruments (e.g. Replacing strings/reeds on instruments / Setup of guitars Oiling valves in brass instruments etc.);
- Setup for classes and performances (e.g. Drum circles etc.);
- Coordinating equipment, set up and tear down for all music performances including live sound for performances;
- Coordinator of the ISF Music Technical Team (students) – setup and operate sound gear for school events;
- Coordinate with Auditorium Manager all logistics for Music Department music showcases;
- Support general departmental duties and collaborate with other Secondary Technicians when needed.
Requirements
- Diploma or above in Music, or a related discipline;
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant working experience, preferably in a school or educational environment;
- Basic knowledge of music technology, tools and equipment handling;
- Interested in supporting students in a practical learning environment;
- Able to work well with students and colleagues;
- Well organized, responsible and attentive to safety;
- A good team player with a positive and helpful attitude;
- IT literate and able to use Google Drive / Calendar and basic office applications;
- Good command of spoken and written English; Chinese language skills are an advantage; and
- Support outside normal office hours (concerts and performances) may be required.
