Senior Fencing Instructor

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director of Athletics to develop full program details, including curriculums and structure progression levels (beginner to advanced);
  • Take an active role in promoting the Fencing Program to The ISF Academy community to drive participation and enthusiasm;
  • Deliver hands-on instruction of the Fencing Program at The ISF Academy, ensuring lessons are engaging and suitable for various age groups and skill levels;
  • Maintain flow and continuity of all lessons, ensuring correct and accurate technique (footwork, blade work, and tactics) is taught and that lessons achieve positive result;
  • Ensure fencing pistes and equipment are set up before each lesson and maintain the tidiness of the venue after the coaching session. Ensure lesson plans are followed and lesson attendance is accurately recorded for administrative purposes; and
  • Prepare appropriate lesson plans and show initiative in improving lesson plans.

Requirements

  • Hold a valid FAHKC Fencing Instructor Certification (Level 2 or higher) or an equivalent credential from an internationally recognized association in at least one weapon category, with a specific preference for Foil;
  • Possess a current and valid first aid and CPR certificate;
  • At least 3 years’ proven experience coaching fencing in a school, club, or academy setting;
  • Excellent in written and spoken English; good communication skills in Mandarin is an added advantage; and
  • Strong administrative skills with excellent command of Microsoft Office and Google Docs.
