Senior Finance Manager
Responsibilities
- Support the Assistant Director of Finance as a core member of the Finance management team;
- Lead and review month-end closing processes, schedules, reconciliations, and full sets of financial statements;
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of management and statutory financial reports;
- Prepare and review management reports, variance analyses, and financial performance summaries;
- Provide guidance on procurement matters and review purchase orders submitted for approval;
- Prepare budget and forecast reports, and reports to Education Bureau;
- Assist in replying to enquiries from Inland Revenue Department and Education Bureau;
- Provide analytical insights on trends, risks, and financial implications to support senior management decision-making;
- Prepare, review, coordinate finance-related papers for the Finance Committee , Audit Committee, the Development Committee , the Financial Aid Committee , and other governance meetings;
- Oversee daily finance operations, ensuring data integrity and system controls (e.g. SAP);
- Supervise daily accounting operations and ensure compliance with ISF financial policies, procedures, and internal control requirements;
- Identify control gaps, recommend improvements, and ensure consistent application of finance policies across entities;
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, accounting standards, Education Bureau requirements and internal governance frameworks;
- Coordinate external audit matters, including audit planning, fieldwork support, and resolution of audit findings;
- Provide guidance, coaching, and support to finance team members to enhance capability and performance;
- Collaborate with academic and administrative departments on finance-related matters and institutional initiatives;
- Lead the review of financial aid applications and coordination with financial aid applicants;
- Ensure confidentiality of financial aid applications; and
- Administrative and any ad hoc duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance or other related discipline;
- A full member of an internationally recognized accounting professional body;
- At least 8 years of solid accounting and financial management experience, with at least 4 years of managerial experience;
- Solid experience in producing, reviewing and monitoring financial reports, budgets and forecast reports;
- Experience working in sizable and complex organizations; experience in the education sector would be an advantage;
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
- Proactive, structured, and solution-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset;
- Confident and credible when engaging with senior management, auditors, and committees;
- Effective team leader with good interpersonal and communication skills;
- Strong computer literacy (Excel, PowerPoint etc.) and experienced user of SAP / ERP systems; and
- Good command of written and spoken English, Cantonese, and Putonghua.
