JOB OPENINGS
Teaching Intern/Fellow – Chinese Classics
The ISF Academy, located in Hong Kong SAR, seeks to appoint a Teaching Fellow to join the vibrant Shuyuan Chinese Classics team for the academic year 2025-2026. As a unique independent school, the ISF Academy offers an immersive education in both Chinese and English within a global context. The school prides itself on its academic rigour and forward-thinking approach, providing a curriculum that blends tradition with innovation, alongside a robust extracurricular programme.
The Shuyuan Chinese Classics Programme
The Shuyuan Chinese Classics programme provides students with diverse opportunities to engage with the foundational aspects of Chinese culture and to appreciate the rich legacy of the ancient world. The successful candidate will be involved in the development and delivery of courses in Chinese Classics as well as various outreach initiatives across our Primary and Secondary schools.
The Shuyuan “Chinese Classics” program offers courses in “Chinese Classics,” “Chinese Classical Literature,” “Comparative Classics,” “Chinese Culture,” and “Creative Writing Based on Classics.” All courses are developed and structured by the program’s faculty, who have also compiled accompanying teaching materials and employ flexible and diverse teaching strategies.
Beyond coursework, the Chinese Classics program strongly encourages students to unleash their creativity, promote Chinese culture, and enrich the school’s cultural atmosphere. To date, we have edited and published four volumes of the Wutong series, showcasing student creative works. We guide students in writing research papers on specialized topics in Chinese culture and literature, which have been published in journals such as Bauhinia. We facilitated the establishment of student interest clubs, namely the “Nanfeng” Literature Club and the “Haitang” Culture Club. We regularly organize study trips, taking students to cities like Chengdu and Nanjing for cultural explorations and firsthand experiences related to their coursework. We also frequently lead students to local museums and theaters to view exhibitions and appreciate theatrical arts. Furthermore, we actively invite scholars and artists to campus to deliver lectures, enriching the entire school community.
The ISF Teaching Fellowship
The ISF Teaching Fellowship is a one-year fixed-term contract aimed at university or college graduates with a strong passion for education and a graduate-level background in Classics.
