Student-Athlete Recruitment (US universities)

Grade 9

  1. Notify your UGC Counselor of your potential interest in playing your sport in college 
  2. Meet with your coach and UGC counselor regularly
  3. Keep accurate data on your training, event results and make sure to document your abilities with video clips that are dated
  4. Plan with your coach and counselor competitions and activities that will enhance and document your skills and abilities
  5. Plan your summers so there will be opportunities to participate in recruitment camps and potentially participate in US and other international competitions
  6. Begin the development of an Athletic Portfolio/Resume
  7. Start looking at the US colleges and universities that you might be interested in attending. Note the level of sport or Division, the names, and email addresses of the coaches
  8. Work with your UGC Counselor to reach out to coaches with your Athletic Portfolio/Resume. Your UGC Counselor will help you with the list of universities given your sports and academic standing
  9. Send your portfolio and key information about you to the coaches. If they are interested in your profile, they will follow up and at some point and ask for your academic record
